$725 million in additional US military aid to Ukraine

Following Russia’s brutal missile attacks on civilians across Ukraine, mounting evidence of atrocities by Russian forces, and the firm and unequivocal rejection by 143 countries at the United Nations of Russia’s illegal attempt to annex parts of Ukraine, the United States is offering additional military aid to help Ukraine’s proud defenders to protect their country.

Pursuant to the President’s delegation of authority, I am authorizing our twenty-third withdrawal of U.S. arms and equipment to Ukraine beginning in August 2021. This withdrawal of $725 million includes additional arms, ammunition, and equipment from the U.S. Department of Defense stockpile. The cut will bring total U.S. military aid to Ukraine to more than $18.3 billion, an unprecedented amount since the administration began.

We will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine as they defend their freedom and independence with extraordinary courage and boundless determination. The capabilities we deliver are carefully calibrated to make the biggest difference on the battlefield for Ukraine.
