A retail leak may reveal the Witcher 3 next-gen release date
A new leak reveals a possible release date for the next-gen upgrade The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3 launched in 2015 to critical acclaimand some players consider it to be one of the best games of the PS4 and Xbox One generation.
Last year, developer CD Projekt Red announced an upgraded version The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The full extent of improvements and new features is unknown, but it’s probably safe to expect The Witcher 3 to run at 60 FPS, with graphical upgrades in key areas, on new consoles. This re-release has been delayed several times and is currently slated to launch in Q4 2022. Now, a new leak aims to give users a tentative date for the current-gen version The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
As reported by Game Infinitus, it looks like the UK retailer has released a release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X re-releases The Witcher 3. The person claims to work at UK retailer Game and mentions that they have received an update to their database with information about upcoming games. It’s basically a list of games with their release dates. In the middle of the image, fans can give December 9, 2022 as the release date current generation upgrade for The Witcher 3.
As always, any leak should be taken with a grain of salt, and interested buyers will have to wait for CD Projekt Red to share a confirmed final release date for the current-gen version The Witcher 3. However, that date doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility, given that December 9th is a Friday, a popular choice for new video game releases.
Players should note that current owners The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will receive a free upgrade to the improved version whenever it is released. The asking price for such re-releases usually varies between developers, as some give free upgrades to users while others charge a fee. However, in some cases there is no upgrade path available, e.g Person 5 Royal owners will have to pay full price for the enhanced PS5 version of the game.
Fans of The Witcher series has a lot to look forward to, as CD Projekt Red recently announced several new games in the franchise. It confirmed that two more Witcher games are in development in different studios, in addition to the following saga in The Witcher series, which is processed in the company.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions due later this year.
