A tech support worker shows Office still running under Windows 2000
A TikTok user went viral after showing off the computers in one of his clients’ offices.
In a video with over 935,000 views, tech influencer @lotsaplots shows a series of computers, each of them outdated and running the Windows 2000 operating system.
“…Using the latest technology from 1999,” says @lotsaplots at the beginning of the video.

The video shows several computers, including one Dell machine and another Hewlett-Packard computer. One has a CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor.
“The operating system it uses is Windows NT 2000,” he explains of the Hewlett-Packard machine. “And they actually use it! Indeed, they use this.”
Although the operating system may be old, Microsoft actually supported it until 2010.
Furthermore, workplaces using outdated operating systems are not uncommon. According to Forbesciting a 2019 study by networking company Spiceworks, “one in three companies surveyed still use at least one Windows XP machine on their network.”
TikTok viewers shared their love for the video and offered their own stories about the vintage software in the creator’s comments section.
“I had a CPA firm running on Windows 98. I needed to virtualize it on a Windows 10 PC so they could migrate and upgrade to the latest version,” wrote one user.
“I quit my temp and permanent job because they used XP to run their entire factory,” added another. “I didn’t see the future.”
“I went to a house the other day where they were using Windows 95,” claimed a third.
“I worked at a ‘state of the art’ 911 center running Windows 2000 on their phone computers until 2020,” another TikToker stated.
While the video may have been funny, TikTokers shared @lotsaplots’ frustration at having to deal with such machines.
As one user said, “As a nostalgic computer geek, this is so great. As a technician, this is a real nightmare.”
The Daily Dot reached out to @lotsaplots via a TikTok comment.
