Android 12 update rolls out to 4K Chromecast with Google TV
After the launch of the cheaper HD model earlier this monthAndroid 12 is now coming to Chromecast with Google TV 4K coming in 2020.
The update — build number STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754 — comes in at 722MB and “upgrades Android TV OS from 10 to 12.” It also brings Chromecast with Google TV (4K) up to the July 2022 security patch from May 2022, which was released in mid-July as the first update of the year.
However, the big privacy update here is the camera and microphone switches that “allow you to disable or enable camera/microphone access for all apps” since video calling is ideal on the biggest screen in your home.
Google also points out that “additional user settings allow you to control the HDR format and surround sound”, while the ability to “match the frame rate of content” is highlighted. The full release notes are below:

Anecdotally, I had to disconnect my Chromecast Voice Remote using my phone and reconnect from Settings -> Removes and Add-ons after installing the update, which installed relatively quickly. We don’t see a separate controller update right now.
