Chromecast with Google TV (4K) gets Android 12 with the latest update

Shortly after Google announced Chromecast with Google TV (HD) last month, Google confirmed that this will happen soon update old 4K model to Android 12. The company has now started rolling out an update for the 4K model, upgrading the streaming dongle from Android 10 to Android 12.

The update (build number STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754) is 722 MB and packs Android security patches for July 2022. It brings some of the new features that Google introduced with Android 12 last year, including switching the camera and microphone that allows users to disable or enable camera and microphone access for apps. In addition, the update includes additional settings to help users control the HDR format and surround sound.

If you haven’t already received the Android 12 update on Chromecast with Google TV (4K), you can check for it manually by going to System update section in the device settings. To access it, click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select SETTINGS. On the next page, select system and then open circle section. 9 to 5 Google notes that you may need to disable the Chromecast’s voice remote and reconnect it from Remote controls and accessories menu in the Chromecast settings after the update.
