Kyle CollinsThe Hastings College sophomore from Eleuthera, Bahamas, said he believes education is an opportunity to pursue his dreams and understand concepts better than he did before, according to the article in The Nassau Guardian. He also believes that education means connecting with people on a deeper level.

Collins said college is also an opportunity for them to meet like-minded people who support his cause, as well as interact with students who excel in different fields, especially students who help make up for areas where he falls short.
“Education is an opportunity to expand my growing life experiences in and out of school,” he said. “It’s a means to lessen the hardships that my generation and future generations will face.”
Collins, a Public Schools Program Scholar (PSSP), is studying mathematics and actuarial science – the study of risk, typically associated with insurance, retirement and investment plans.
“I enjoyed the challenge because math has always been my strongest subject. Actuaries are also in high demand around the world, and even more so in the Bahamas. I found that few Bahamians ever became actuaries, so I decided to change that,” said Collins.
