EA is shutting down online services for Mirror’s Edge, Onrush, and more
Electronic Arts has confirmed plans to shut down online services for various games in the coming months.
Online support for Army of Two: The 40th Day and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel ends on October 20th.
Online services for Mercenaries 2 (PS3 and Xbox 360), Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (PS3 and Xbox 360) and Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, including the Kane’s Wrath expansion (Xbox 360) will then be closed on November 9.
Online support will end for Onrush on November 30th, and for Mirror’s Edge, NBA Jam On Fire Edition, Gatling Gears, and Shank 2 on January 19th, 2023.
“Decisions to retire certain features or modes of certain EA games or to retire online services related to older EA games are never easy,” according to the publisher. “The development teams and operations staff put their hearts into our games, their features and modes almost as much as the players, and it’s hard to see anyone retire.

“As games are replaced by newer titles, the number of players who still enjoy games that have been live for some time drops to a level – typically less than 1% of all top online players across all EA titles – where it is no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work that is involved in maintaining and maintaining the online services for these games.
“We are also committed to constantly updating and improving the features and modes we will keep in our games to ensure they remain exciting to play for as long as possible. That commitment to great gameplay sometimes means we have to remove outdated features and mods.”
