The Honorable Society of Air Pilots North American Region has awarded ICARUS Devices the 2022 Master’s North American Trophy.

This significant award recognizes the commendable work ICARUS Devices has done in developing instrument awareness recognition and understanding systems, improving training fidelity and rapidly accelerating the ability to make weather decisions for pilots before they become lethal.

ICARUS Devices nominated CW5 Joseph Rosamond, who, along with the crews of two California Army National Guard aircraft (Schooner 20 and Mako 27), was awarded the company’s Prince Philip Helicopter Rescue Award in 2020. Rosamond was the pilot-in-chief of the Schooner 20 fire rescue in Creek, California, on September 9, 2020, which saved 263 people and 16 dogs.

“ICARUS Devices has developed an innovative solution for the Hood training that we have all undergone. Bringing today’s technology to a problem as old as aviation itself will have an impact on aviation safety that will certainly reduce both accident and fatality rates in training and operational flight regimes. That alone makes me proud to see them receive this award,” said Rosamond.

The Trophies and Awards Committee meets annually to evaluate proposals for a series of trophies and awards, and the North American Masters Trophy is awarded annually to companies or individual pilots who, in the opinion of the Committee, have achieved excellence in their field. This award would favor flying/technology that is predominantly North American in character.
The Honorable Company of Air Pilots was founded as a guild in 1929 to ensure that pilots and navigators of the (then) independent aviation industry were accepted and regarded as professionals. From the outset, the Guild was modeled after the Livery Companies of the City of London, which were originally established to protect the interests and standards of those involved in their trades or professions. In 1956 the Guild was formally recognized as a Livery Company. In 2014, he was awarded a Royal Charter on behalf of the Honorable Company of Air Pilots.

The trophy will be on display at ICARUS Devices for one year. Previous recipients include Conair Aviation Ltd., The Boeing Company, Bombardier Aerospace, CASARA, Saskatchewan Air Ambulance Svc, Kenn Borek Air Ltd., Coulson Aviation, William “Bill” Alder and the Civil Air Patrol.

This press release was prepared and distributed by ICARUS Devices.
