Intel Core i9-13900KF overclocked to 5.97 GHz on a mid-range motherboard
High clock speeds with 13th generation core processors may not be exclusive to premium Z690/Z790 motherboards.
According to a new listing on overclocking website HWBOT, the flagship Core i9-13900KF processor from the new Raptor Lake series can run at a maximum clock of 5.97GHz on the B660 motherboard. Screenshots shared by user “ARABUS” show a 24-core CPU with an effective clock of 5668 MHz and a maximum core frequency of 5974 MHz with a voltage of 1.55-1.57. Of course, such a high voltage is far from what we consider the default for Intel processors, but the CPU did not exceed the temperature of 68°C with the AIO cooler according to the user.
The overclocker used an ASUS ROG Strix B660-F Gaming motherboard for this feat and 32GB of DDR5-5200 CL30 memory to score 2333 points in the Cinebench R23 single-core test. This is about 17% faster than the latest Ryzen 9 7950X 16-core Zen4 desktop CPU in the same test.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is overclocked to 5.5 GHz
The CPU-Z software validation database now lists the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-core Zen3 processor with 3D-VCache clocked at 5498 MHz. This was reportedly achieved on the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard. The CPU reportedly ran at 1,296V and used the 4201 BIOS as of April of this year.
Unfortunately, no results have been released this time, so it’s unclear if this is just a software misreporting or if the CPU is actually overclocked to 5.5GHz, which theoretically shouldn’t be possible.

The 5800X3D doesn’t officially support overclocking, at least by standard definition, but there have been rumors that AMD could unlock certain overclocking features with a newer BIOS. It is said that such BIOSes will become available only for certain motherboards. It is not clear if this BIOS was used for this particular achievement.
