New counties added to line-up to apply for food aid after Ian Hurricane – WFTV
Orlando, Fla. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) announced that Phase III of the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) will open for several Central Florida counties tomorrow, Monday.
On Sunday, DCF Secretary Shewan Harris said Lake, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties would now be eligible to apply for benefits.
D-SNAP continues to provide food assistance for individuals and families affected by Hurricane Ian who are not currently receiving food assistance benefits.
“The first two phases of D-Snap have been highly successful, distributing $69.7 million to more than 112,000 homes,” Harris said. “The department is offering and encouraging families to use the phone option to interview them, and there are hundreds of call center agents available each day to support these efforts.”
