New Lyft membership offers roadside assistance, other perks for half the price

rideshare company Lyft is re-introducing a paid subscription plan that offers new benefits at half the price of its previous subscription.

The company announced the new plan — Life Pink — in a blog post on Monday. According to Lyft, members can pay $9.99 per month or $99 per year. The Life Pink All Access plan, which includes all the perks of a Life Pink Plus bike, ebike, and scooter ride, is $199 annually.

Anand Subbarayana, Head, Life Pink, said in a statement, “As we aim to provide extrinsic value to our riders through Life Pink, we have reduced the prices while expanding the benefits that we offer to our members.”

The Lyft Pink plan includes:

  • Fast Pickup (Priority Status)
  • Savings Lux and XL Ride
  • “In-app” roadside assistance for riders’ personal vehicles
  • car rental upgrade
  • a Grubhub+ subscription
  • Unlock one bike or scooter per month
  • Up to three free cancellations per month

For commuters in cities where bikes, ebikes and scooters are prevalent, the company’s Life Pink All Access plan includes all the benefits of Life Pink, along with:

  • Free, Unlimited 45-Minute Classic Bike Ride
  • FREE UNLIMITED Ebikes & Scooters Unlocked
  • Discounted Ebike & Scooter Rates
  • 3 bike or scooter guest passes per year

Lyft also said that its “top drivers” will get a free Lyft Pink subscription.

Lyft bans hiring in the US

The announcement comes almost a month later Lyft spokesperson told Fox Business That the company is in a hiring freeze in the US until the end of the year.

“Like many other companies navigating an uncertain economy, we are pausing recruitment for all US-based roles through the end of the year,” Ashley Adams, a spokesperson for Lyft, told Fox Business.

In July, Lyft said it was laying off 60 employees and reducing its global operations team, the Wall Street Journal reported. At the end of June, the company employed 5,000 people, according to its most recent quarterly report.
