Paranoid Android releases custom ROMs for Android 13

Like a flood Android 13 Custom ROMs continues to flow, more and more devices are seeing the fruits of Google’s latest and greatest version of Android. Now, the developer team behind the Paranoid Android custom ROM has announced that the Android 13 projects will be called “Topaz,” with pre-stable builds already available for the Nothing Phone 1, Google Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro.

The initial alpha and beta releases are now available for all intrepid Nothing Phone 1 and Google Pixel 6/6 Pro owners who want even more control over their everyday smartphone experience. XDA Senior Member sirhc maintains Topaz builds for the Pixel 6 series, while XDA Recognized Developers here and xboxfanj takes care of Nothing Phone 1.

Despite being a pre-stable release, the custom ROM packs a handful of UI improvements in addition to new features introduced by Google in the latest OS update. In addition, there is a fresh new wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who is also a wallpaper designer for OnePlus. He posted a wallpaper for everyone on his Abstruct app.

If you want to try Paranoid Android Topaz on your phone, you can download the ROM from the table below. However, keep in mind that you may run into some unexpected issues as it is a pre-stable release.

Judging by a subtle hintThe Paranoid Android team is also working on adding support for the Google Pixel 6a.

To install the ROM, download the latest Fastboot-flashable zip for your phone from the above link, reboot the bootloader, wipe the device and install the zip package using fastboot update aospa-topaz-*-image.zip command. You can also opt for the recovery path for future version upgrades.
