Xbox chief Phil Spencer has admitted that it’s been a while since a major first-party exclusive game landed on Xbox Series X and S.
Talking to same brain On YouTube, Spencer said he understands why gamers are frustrated by the lack of mainstream Xbox-only games – As last year’s Halo Infinite can be said to be the latest – But he indicated that 2023 will be a big year for the company.
“One of the things we’ve heard loud and clear is that it’s been a very long time since we shipped what people are going to say is a big first party game,” Spencer said. “We can have excuses about Covid and other things, but in the end I know people are investing in our platform and they want to have great games.”
He continued, “We’re excited about 2023. We’ve been talking about upcoming games, and those games are going really well. Getting our first real Xbox first games out of Bethesda, and having them ship Redfall and Starfield, is going to be a lot of fun.”
Forza Motorsport 8 is also expected to be released in Spring 2023Adding to this year’s Xbox lineup and returning to the simulation-based series for the first time since 2017.
