Unreleased Mario Kart XXL Tech Demo for Game Boy Advance Surfaces Online
DNF
Nintendo’s preservation website A forest of illusions acquired the “notorious” Mario Kart XXL tech demo – Denaris Entertainment Software’s proposal for the Game Boy Advance, dating back to April 2004. Now available for download.
German development studio (founded by Turrican creator Manfred Trenz) originally pitched the game and its “dynamic and adjustable perspective rendering engine featuring two playing fields” to Nintendo of Europe. The demo consists of a single track that uses Mario Kart assets and features BGM from the PlayStation racer titled Moorhuhn Kartwhose development was also helped by Denaris.
Interestingly, this Mario Kart demo started life as a racing game called ‘R3D-Demo‘. The same developer eventually released a Game Boy Advance kart racer based on the CGI animated character Crazy Frog. Yikes!
