Wahoo takes indoor mountain biking and indoor cycling with new Systm and RGT features
Wahoo today unveiled a host of new features for the Wahoo X software package, which combines the brand’s two separate indoor cycling apps, RGT and Systemin one monthly subscription.
Among them is the voice chat feature that a third-party app, Discord, has monopolized so far. Known file users Wahoo RGT He will be able to chat with passengers in four different ways. First, chats can be set based on proximity, which means anyone nearby on the road will be able to communicate. The second will be an entire map-wide chat, involving everyone on a given map at a given time. The third will enable riders to create private channels, while the final is a one-way chat, allowing team managers or practice leaders to dictate tactics for the current race or session without interruption.
Wahoo’s reason for creating this feature in the app is based on its desire to connect riders; which are part of the brand’s new four-pillar focus to empower its users to ride, race, train and connect.
To that end, the voice chat feature is accompanied by a selection of other new features. The Wahoo RGT app contains 13 “real routes”, which are virtual maps based on the terrain of real world locations. of between it 2021 World Championship The finishing circuit in Leuven and an extension of the Dirty Riever gravel race in Kielder Forest in England.
The latest addition to this, however, brings mountain biking indoors with a circuit called Dunoon Crossover. Based on a destination set to open in Dunon, Scotland, this mixes cobbled roads with stretches of single lane and different surfaces. Functionally, this would mean a three-level difference in the rolling resistance built into the algorithm, although it is uncertain whether riders will be able to switch to a mountain bike, as is possible in Zwift.
RGT isn’t the only aspect of the Wahoo wallet with new features. In a move that requires internships abroad, Systm, Wahoo’s internship app produced from the Sufferfest platform, is given the ability to push internships to Wahoo’s Elemnt group of bike computers. This will work in a similar way to TrainerRoad’s outdoor workout feature by automatically pushing the day’s workout to your bike computer and presenting it as a workout to follow.
If you really want to distort reality, then you can bring the cycling computer back inside and use it to control your smart trainer, although we’re not sure why you’d want to.
Finally, Systm is also getting a number of new racing experiences. This puts the camera on a professional rider’s bike during the race, then couples the footage to the rider’s own power coil and turns it into a workout coil. When a rider attacks or descends a hill, your clever coach will pile up the resistance, immerse you in the experience and allow you to pretend you’re jostling with the best in the world. Since it’s based on video footage, these workouts are for riding indoors, of course.
