About the Moore business: Cape Coral Town Hall provided a FEMA update a month after the storm.

It was the wall-to-wall residents at the Cape Coral Town Hall FEMA meeting on 3 November. Speakers included representatives from FEMA, Public Aid, SBA and Cape Coral city planners at the state and local levels.

The information provided to residents covered various relevant topics.

A major announcement was the opening of the new FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Lake Kennedy Center, 400 Santa Barbara Boulevard in Cape Coral, which is open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. FEMA Division Supervisor Bob Fogel of Lee County shared the timeline. “Hurricane Ian struck on Wednesday, September 28; on October 2, the first FEMA inspection was carried out; on October 3, the first FEMA payment was made. As of November 3, 56,045 were in the FEMA registration system, 11,757 inspections conducted, 11,508 inspections processed. Were there,” Fogel said.

He continued, “As of November 3, $21,584,650 has been made in homeowner assistance grants and $6,365,000 in rental assistance payments to individuals: $892,810 was paid for flood insurance coverage in Cape Coral.”

FEMA Personal Support Director Marcus Bryant shares specific ways FEMA is helping individuals.

“We are offering housing assistance; home repair and rental assistance; Transitional Shelter Assistance and other need assistance, known as ONA; Personal asset replacement, transportation, medical and dental support and moving and storage services,” Bryant said.

Florida Division of Emergency Management Director and State Coordinating Officer Kevin Guthrie talks about the state’s non-organized travel trailer shelter program, which is temporary housing only, and is known as Transitional Shelter Assistance, or TSA.

“We’ll be here for 3-5 years, or until the area is fully recovered,” Guthrie assured the audience. “The state’s unorganized shelter travel trailer limit is much lower than FEMA’s trailer accommodation program.” The state program, he explained, is for 6 months, while the FEMA program is for 18 months. He also notes that if you have a second home anywhere, you do not qualify for the FEMA Temporary Trailer Housing Program.
