Apple today released the second beta versions of the upcoming iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 updates to developers for testing purposes, with the beta versions coming two weeks after Apple plant the first betas of iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2.
Registered developers are able to download iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 profiles from the Apple Developer Center, and once installed, the beta version is available via streaming.
iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 include the Freeform app, which can be used for note-taking, sketching, drawing, brainstorming, creating mood boards, and more. Multiple people can work on the same Freeform board, with changes synchronized for all participants in real time.
for iPadiPadOS 16.2 brings external display support to Stage manager multitasking function, allowing up to eight applications to be used at once. External display support is available for M1 AND M2 iPad models.
Apple has added a new Home app architecture coming to iOS and iPadOS 16.2, which Apple says is designed to deliver faster and more reliable performance, especially in homes with lots of smart home accessories. The new architecture requires HomePod 16.2 beta software and causes the Home app to not work with devices updated to iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, or macOS is coming 13.1.
