Buy BC brand to appear at every Save-On-Foods to promote local produce – Kelowna News

Save-On-Foods has joined the provincial government’s Buy BC campaign and will now highlight products made in the province in its stores.

Customers will see banners, stickers and shelves at Save-On stores across the province to help identify BC-made foods and beverages. It includes products from the Okanagan-based BC Tree Fruits Cooperative, whose president and CEO, Warren Sarafinchan, joined the BC minister. Agriculture and Food Labor Popham and Save-On-Foods President Darrell Jones at a press conference in Coquitlam earlier this week.

“For nearly a century, BC Tree Fruits has been committed to serving the tree fruit growers of British Columbia,” said Sarafinchan. “We’re honored to work with other BC food and beverage companies to promote the Buy BC program and showcase the delicious fruit of our growers.

“For decades, Save-On-Foods has been a partner of BC Tree Fruits, and we are proud to bring consumers the excitement of the BC apple harvest through this annual event.”

Save-On-Foods launched its Buy BC campaign in conjunction with the annual Apple Cup competition held in all of its stores. The stores celebrate partnerships with local apple growers, such as BC Tree Fruits, with unique creative brands fueled by local inspiration. Buy BC has teamed up with BC Tree Fruits to produce promotional labels, in-store posters and cardboard display containers, and each participating store will be judged on their creativity, with an award for the best display.

The government believes the Buy BC logo makes it easier for people to identify local food and beverage products and explore new and different products from across the province. It should also help small family businesses, new entrepreneurs and large BC businesses grow and succeed.
