Ford Gran Torino makes a modern comeback
Ford Gran Torino makes a modern comeback
The iconic muscle car from the late ’60s and early ’70s is an underappreciated superstar and the new show shows what it would look like if Ford had made it today.
Aside from its near-last appearance in Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino, the classic car from the golden age of muscle cars is perhaps unfairly losing out to its more sought-after sibling, stronghold Mustang.
It was a mid-size car that went through some interesting changes over the course of its short life, and arguably culminated in the remarkable Cobra Edition that truly made it the muscle car it had always wanted – and seemed – to be.
Nowadays, Torino lives as a classic racer and sometimes a racer, in the shadow of more popular machines like Ford MustangChevy Chevelle, Camaro, and many more. But if she came back today, it would probably be a great sight.
We’re looking at a speculative rendering courtesy of digital artist Bimble Designs This shows how Turin can return.
Talking Ford Torino relives the journey of Clint Eastwood
Nowadays, you could make the argument that the Ford Torino was forgotten by anyone who lacked interest or had little knowledge of the car’s history. But it was and still is a very beloved part of American history And a nice car too, especially from the second generation. Anyway, the model lived from about 1968 to 1976 over three generations.
In an age when marketing requires a little inspiration from lucrative times past, cars like the Ford Mustang are getting new life in the form of electric cars and crossovers. The Ford Torino will likely become an electric car then, but before we assume it will be a glossy plaque on a crossover or SUV. Keep this in mind, an electric coupe can be quite a beauty.
Here, the car itself in a simple silver color presents the elegant and simple appearance But one of the main characteristics of the Torino design spirit here – the quad-circular headlights.
Building a Ford Torino dedicated to the digital world
Also called the Gran Torino, this car was introduced for 2022 in electric car form that didn’t need exhaust heads, grille or hood scoop. The render has similarities with a file Modern Ford Mustang – But the front is pure Torino – albeit with many modifications.
Red brake calipers, massive black wheels, and a low-slung coupe bodywork are secondary to the front theme, while a hidden rear spoiler and “Cobra” badging hint at the inspiration behind this model.
In the past, Cobra versions of the Ford Torino used variants of the 7.0-liter “429” V8. Thunder Jet, Cobra Jet, and Super Cobra Jet Engines It ranks first at around 375 hp or so.
This car will have an electric powertrain to carry around Dodge Charger Daytona SRT It will be heavy as all electric vehicles thanks to the battery pack but will probably provide a lot of power and torque.
Although it’s highly unlikely, we’d still like to see their Ford products Godzilla 7.3L engine Or maybe a Shelby GT500 engine to match the Cobra badges. Heck, we’ve even settled on a 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
Ford must bring back the Gran Torino name – and with it the same unforgivable style and power associated with the iconic Cobra models. Move over the Mustang, there is a new horse car in town.
