Heating Bill Help: What is the monthly income limit for LIHEAP?

Eligible Americans can benefit from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) program. It provides financial assistance to low-income households with their heating and cooling expenses, bill payments, energy emergencies and weather, as well as energy-related home repairs.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced last week that they will offer $4.5 billion in aid to help American families this winter through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) plan.

What is the income limit for LIHEAP?

An individual may automatically be eligible for LIHEAP if they are already participating or have family members who are participating in other benefit plans, such as SNAP, SSI, or TANF.

Your eligibility depends on the annual household income. For example, for a family of one person, the maximum income level is $20,385 and for a family of three it is set at $34,545. The income limit for a family of two is $27,465 and for a family of four, the limit is $41,625.
