iPhone owners can tap to pay with PayPal and Venmo soon

iPhones will soon allow PayPal and Venmo apps to take advantage of the Tap To Pay feature at participating US merchants, as announced on PayPal’s Third Quarter Earnings Report Thursday.
Tap To Pay was launched earlier this year as a way to make contactless payments using iPhones via NFC. It was just usable In Apple Stores and use Trader Square appAdding popular alternative payment options makes it easier for consumers and store owners, who don’t need to purchase additional hardware for the feature to work.

These new features are only available to US merchants and iPhone users in the US, and it is unclear if they will expand to other regions. PayPal did not respond to a request for comment by the time of publication.
