PayPal Finally Adds Support for Apple Pay and More
PayPal will soon roll out new ways for customers and merchants to take advantage of Apple Pay, iPhone, and more. PayPal says it will soon adopt Apple’s new Tap to Pay feature on iPhone, as well as add Apple Pay support to its debit and credit cards and add Apple Pay as a payment option in checkout flows.

Made by PayPal Ads In an update to investors as part of its third-quarter 2022 earnings release. As one of its “strategic initiatives and business updates,” the company says it’s “working with Apple to improve our offering to PayPal and Venmo merchants and consumers.”
“We are very pleased to work with Apple to improve our offering to PayPal and Venmo merchants and consumers,” PayPal CEO Dan Schulman said in the statement.
There are various components to today’s ad from PayPal, which also owns the popular peer-to-peer payment platform Venmo. here they are:
- Taking advantage of Apple’s Tap to Pay technology on the iPhone, US merchant customers will soon be able to accept debit or credit cards and mobile wallets, including Apple Pay, using the iPhone and the PayPal or Venmo iOS app.
- Adding Apple Pay as a payment option in PayPal unbranded checkout flows on merchant platforms, including the PayPal merchant platform.
- Next year, US customers will be able to add PayPal and Venmo-branded credit and debit cards to Apple Wallet and use them anywhere Apple Pay is accepted.
Click to Pay on iPhone is a new feature Launched Made by Apple earlier this year, currently available in Apple Stores and across Trader Square app. Tap to Pay on iPhone works by a merchant requiring a customer to hold the iPhone or Apple Watch near the merchant’s iPhone to pay using Apple Pay, a credit or debit card, or another digital wallet. The payment is then completed securely using NFC technology.
Meanwhile, PayPal’s announcement today also means that you’ll see Apple Pay as a payment option when you choose the PayPal payment option from some websites. This will increase the availability of Apple pay for purchases on the web, but it appears that implementation will be somewhat limited.
Finally, PayPal also says consumers will be able to add PayPal and Venmo-branded debit and credit cards to Apple Wallet and Apple Pay next year.
