PNE has announced a new roller coaster investment of 9 million dollars for 2024
The amusement park Vancouver is getting a new attraction that officials say will be the first of its kind in North America.
The Pacific National Exposition (PNE), along with the owners of Playland, announced a $9 million investment Friday in a new roller coaster.
Participation in PNE 2022 is about 75 percent of pre-pandemic levels, according to the organizer
“This event will be the fastest of its kind in North America,” said PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost.
“It will have a runway of more than 1,200 feet and will go up and down more than six stories in the air.”
The new ride will be located on the old Corkscrew Coaster, according to officials.
“With the opening tunnel, the first gradient of 18 meters, air hills, propellers and wide turns, the experience will be unlike anything else in the country,” PNE staff said.
Zamperla is designing and building in Italy. Zamperla is known worldwide for its rides, according to PNE officials.
“We are excited to offer Playland Canada’s fastest launch at the Pacific National Exhibition,” said Zamperla CEO Antonio Zamperla.
“Playland and Zamperla have a long-standing partnership and their teams began discussions with us over a year ago about long-term planning and how to help grow the park’s offerings.”
Zamperla recently designed and built Playland’s new ride, Skybender.
At this time, the new ride has not yet been named but is expected to be completed by the 2024 season.
