Random: Sega is hiring someone to help keep Sonic lore in check

sonic the hedgehog Science, hey? More confusing that Zelda timetable? Mostly not. But there was Much From games, comics, TV shows, and movies, not all of them are related to each other. So Sega said “enough is enough” and the company is now hiring for Sonic the Hedgehog loremaster. Yes really.

Sega of America has published a job listing for “Associate Manager, Lore” for Sonic Team LinkedIn (Thanks my box!). The job is located in the corporate office in Burbank, California, and you’ll need to be able to commute and work from the office two days a week, with the remaining working days remaining remotely. The lucky candidate will report to, that is real jobDirector of Knowledge Strategy and Creativity.

Here’s an excerpt from the job description as it appears on LinkedIn:

“With both project management and creative duties, you will immerse yourself in organizing and shaping Sonic lore, canon, characters and universes, helping bring consistency, connection, and creativity to all things Sonic across various forms of media including games, animation, comics and more.”

We know video game lore is really important, especially for established series – but we admit it’s a bit funny and cool to see this as a job listing. It actually sounds pretty cool to us – imagine being responsible, or playing a role, in keeping the story of a huge video game series well-knit together?

Now, if you’re an outsider, you might be confused. Sonic the hedgehog has knowledge? And no, we don’t talk Evil spirits levels of knowledge, but there is a lot going on in the world of Blue Misty. from 1991 sonic the hedgehog On Mega Drive, for this year Sonic the Hedgehog 2 A movie, most people would find it hard to keep up with the movie. There’s Sally the Acorn, Manic, and Sonia – Sonic’s siblings – and Sonic’s mission in a squad. Don’t get us started on that time when Sonic and Mega Man crossed worlds collide And the worlds unite Along with many other Sega and Capcom properties. We’re not scratching the surface, here.

Interestingly, last week, Ian Flynn — the audio comic writer and person behind the Sonic Frontiers story — confirmed on the BumbleKast podcast (via Reset) and asserted that there is no “two worlds,” which is a remake of the events of Sonic Frontiers.
