RPMGlobal Launches Next Generation Mobile Asset Management Solution AMT Mobile

Last week RPMGlobal chose IMARC in Sydney with the presence of I am, to launch the next generation, mobile asset management solution, AMT Mobile. AMT Mobile is a dedicated application that provides field technicians, managers, and supervisors the ability to digitize forms and processes during remote operation. The solution integrates seamlessly with SAP to deliver critical corporate data to industry professionals.

This app can also be used offline making it ideal for underground operations or locations without extensive Wi-Fi coverage. Workers simply go about their daily tasks and when they get online again, AMT Mobile syncs the data entered throughout the shift.

According to David Patkin, Executive General Manager of Product Strategy at RPM, this application will change the way maintenance professionals collaborate, receive and analyze information. “AMT Mobile puts information in the hands of users and removes the tedious task of filling out paperwork in every shift,” he said.

Many processes in mining have always been paper based including asset checks, safety inspections and various to-do lists. This makes capturing, entering and storing reliable data prone to error.

“It’s hard to believe in this day and age, we can still count on an individual filling out their work on a piece of paper, presenting that paper and then someone else entering it into a computer,” Patkin said. AMT Mobile allows you to do all of this simultaneously on a mobile device. We all use mobile devices in other aspects of our lives, it just doesn’t make sense to rely on legacy systems from decades ago to complete our work.”

AMT Mobile is designed to improve, automate and digitize checks and checklists in the asset management space. Through this digitization, it replaces paper-based systems and manual entry of post-activity data. Data is instantly available with improved compliance and auditability across the enterprise. Provides real-time data capture and entry in a structured manner to business with more accurate reporting while meeting corporate audit compliance and data warehousing requirements.

AMT Mobile is based on the industry-leading asset management software solution, AMT, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. AMT is designed exclusively for mining and is used to manage or track more than 50% of the world’s large mining equipment by miners, OEMs, dealers and contractors worldwide.

The first generation of AMT mobile used HTML technology to access a web page where field workers could enter their data. The tool has served the industry well for several years; However, this latest version of the app works natively for both Android and iOS platforms.

The solution provides notifications when a potential problem or observation about an asset is identified. Notifications can include items such as a breakdown, priority, or what might have been the cause of the problem or the damage already done. With the mobile phone in the user’s hand, they can scan QR codes to access equipment, access the device’s camera to add images as supporting evidence or add audio to text, and simplify subsequent corrections.

“When we create something new in RPM, we look to make a change to the way it is currently done, and AMT Mobile definitely ticks that box. Eliminating the paper-based process is not only a huge win for users but is good for the environment as well,” Patkin said.
