Samsung’s “On The Fence” Trade Shows Fun at Apple

Samsung mocked iPhone users in its new announcement.
The trademark war between the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers, Samsung and Apple, is not new. Both tech giants have been involved in “brand war” campaigns for as long as we can remember. The rivalry between them has become iconic, and is always present in any technical discussion.
Samsung recently launched a new campaign to promote its foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, bringing Apple iPhone fun.
The new Samsung ad mocks iPhone users and asks them to switch to Android phones because Apple always makes its users wait for the useful features that are already available in many Android phones.
The 30-second ad aired on Samsung’s US YouTube channel with the caption “Time to get off the fence.” The man is shown sitting on a real fence and admiring what is available on the other side, with two people (showing iPhone users) dissuading him from doing so.
Meanwhile, news agency PTI reported that Samsung and Apple will upgrade software for their 5G-enabled phones in India in November or December, as the government prompted smartphone manufacturers to quickly upgrade their devices for a high-speed network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 1 launched 5G services amid much fanfare, as leading telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio outlined plans to roll out services in a few select cities.
But most users in those select cities have yet to get 5G services due to patchy networks and painful delays at smartphone companies pushing required software patches over the air.
As 5G technology not only enables faster internet but also holds promise for rapid economic progress and boosting job creation, the government wants businesses to crack now. Many companies are starting to back off.
Apple said in a statement that it will begin rolling out 5G software updates to iPhone users in December. The upgrade will cover models, including the iPhone 14, 13, 12, and iPhone SE.
