Volkswagen ID. Buzz is introduced with the new Intelligent Assistance System

These systems can also be optionally ordered for all other newly produced IDs. Models from ID.3 and ID.4 to ID.5.

Travel assistance with Swarm data. Optional Travel Assist can keep the vehicle in the lane, maintain distance from the vehicle in front and also ensure that the vehicle remains at the maximum speed set by the driver. Among other things, it uses the adaptive lane guidance system for this. This system actively keeps the vehicle in the middle of its lane.

The Travel Assist adapts itself to the driver’s driving style and can steer the vehicle further left or right in the lane rather than in the middle. Travel assist also comes with predictive cruise control and cornering assist function. Here, the vehicle speed can be adapted to the valid speed limit and the course of the road (inclines, roundabouts, etc.).

If anonymized Swarm data is available from other Volkswagen models, Travel Assist with Swarm data can only use an identified road lane marking to place the vehicle in the lane. In this case, for example, the assistance system is also available on country roads without central lane marking. The availability of Travel Assist is further enhanced by the swarm data, improved comfort and level of customer support.

With the use of Swarm data, Volkswagen is taking the next step towards highly automated driving. Unknown Swarm data is generated by several million Volkswagen Group vehicles. To this end, the vehicle fleet also collects map material with specific features from the vehicle’s vicinity – such as marker lines and road signs – and automatically transmits this information to the cloud.

From there, individually customized data is sent to the participating Volkswagen models that are currently driving along the respective road segments. The database is growing all the time thanks to the large number of participating vehicles.

When driving at speeds in excess of 90 km/h on a motorway, Travel Assist with Swarm data can actively support lane changes if this is desired by the driver. When activated, the lane change can be initiated and performed by tapping the turn signal. To complete operation, the sensor must not detect any objects around the vehicle and the capacitive steering wheel must be able to detect the driver’s hands. Id. Buzz then automatically moves into the desired lane. The driver is able to maneuver and maneuver at any time.

Park Assist Plus with memory function. The second optional help system in ID. Buzz is with park assist plus memory function. This innovative driver assistance system can be used to teach the vehicle five individual parking maneuvers. Memory function remembers parking procedures covering speeds less than 40 km / h and distances up to 50 m. This allows the vehicle to be parked in a carport or garage, for example. The driver has to park the vehicle only once and save the parking process. Id. Buzz can then repeat the learned parking maneuver on his own. All the driver has to do then is keep an eye on the situation.

Once activated in the parking menu, Park Assist Plus can also search for parking spaces and perform parking maneuvers. When driving past parking spaces, the intelligent assist system detects suitable parallel parking spaces at speeds up to 40 km/h and parking bays up to 20 km/h. The driver then only has to stop at the selected parking spot, press the brake, and activate and monitor the parking process. Help system parks ID. Buzz with sensors that monitor the surroundings—it accelerates, accelerates, brakes, and changes gears. It can also continue driver-initiated parking maneuvers and, if possible, complete them. The system also provides assistance when re-entering parallel parking spaces.

Id. Buzz also has other driver assistance systems that can help enhance driving safety. The following assist systems are on board as standard: sway support, oncoming vehicle braking while turning, driver alert system, autonomous emergency braking front assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, lane keeping system lane assist, dynamic road sign display , and the Car2X traffic hazard alert function, where vehicles notify each other of critical situations.

Other support systems are also available optionally. These are Adaptive Cruise Control ACC Stop and Go, Anti-Theft Alarm System with Interior Monitoring, Keyless Advanced Locking and Starting System, Park Assist Plus, Area View and Lane Change System Side Assist.
