• In October, WFP provided food assistance through cash-based transfers to about 461,000 vulnerable refugees living in camps and host communities. The majority of refugees come from Syria (89 percent), of whom a minority come from Iraq (9 percent), and the remainder (2 percent) from Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and other countries.

• Due to continued funding constraints, WFP informed refugees in communities that aid would remain at a reduced level until further notice.

• With the progressive shift from e-cards to mobile money to promote financial inclusion, around 13,000 Syrian refugees were helped through this method in October. To provide a cohesive message and prevent confusion among beneficiaries about the transition to e-wallets, WFP and UNHCR have successfully completed a joint information session on Mobile Money in Amman reaching over 5,000 households. The joint information session continued in October in the Mafraq Governorate, reaching 2,000 households who are currently receiving assistance from UNHCR through mobile money.

• WFP school feeding activities continued into October, with the distribution of dates to approximately 30,000 students in camps and 26,000 students in communities and healthy meals to 85,000 students in communities. A total of 1.5 million healthy meals were produced by 300 women working in the kitchen, of which 35 women are registered with the Tamkeen program of the National Assistance Fund (NAF), which aims to create employment opportunities.

• In addition, WFP and its partners conducted mobile money information sessions for the school feeding healthy kitchen workers, who will receive their salaries through mobile money starting in November 2022.

• WFP continues to support the National Aid Fund (NAF) to validate the eligibility of 120,000 vulnerable Jordanian families enrolled in the NAF program for cash assistance. With the support of WFP’s contracted service provider, NAF successfully verified around 250 homes through physical visits.

• With regard to the Food Security Outcomes Monitoring (FSOM) exercise for NAF beneficiaries, WFP finalized the second quarter report. Data collection for the third quarter of FSOM was completed in October.
