If video games have taught us anything over the past few years, it’s this grappling hooks are the most exciting new feature you can add to a franchise.

Destiny 2: Lightfall2023 MMO expansion, will allow the Guardians to swing in a strike with their new Strand powerswhich Bungie first revealed in August. But in latest expansion trailerwho debuted in The Game Awards 2023players got to see some clashing hook games that confirmed that Guardians can take on anything – even their fellow Guardians.

About thirty seconds into the new trailer, after the cool cinematics are over, we see a Thundercrash Titan take off using their Super. Now, for the uninitiated, Thundercrash is an added Super Fate 2: Abandoned, which causes the Titan to turn their body into a rocket, letting them literally fly through the air until they hit something. Super isn’t new, but the hunter is using grappling to get a ride on Thundercrash.

Bungie knows how to make a flashy trailer and this moment takes the cake. Thundercrash Titan glides towards a group of enemies and Hunter is able to fly through the air with them. When the pair land, the two begin to strike together, and we even see Hunter run into an opposing Cabal and perform some sort of melee execution on them.

Rodeo Hunter is definitely the highlight of the trailer, but there’s plenty of other interesting Strand tidbits and potential teasers hidden in there (plus we’ve got plenty of shots of the gorgeous Neomuna destination).

Twenty-two seconds into the trailer, we see a Hunter crash to the ground. When they land, the entire Cabal around them rises into the air and remains suspended. We see the same effect later in the trailer where a handful of Cabal are flying – trapped by the Strand – around a Warlock standing in a Rift.

During a gunplay section starting 23 seconds into the trailer, we see a Titan shoot what appears to be green bullets from a new gun. Green bullets might not look out of place in a Fate 2 trailer, but the color of the bullet usually matches that of the gun element. Took almost a year to get Legendary Stasis weapon in the era of Beyond the Lightbut it makes it seem like the Guardians will get the Strand weapons almost immediately The fall of light. Right after the Thundercrash segment, we also see a Titan display a Towering Barricade, which causes a massive blade to shatter in front of them, looking for nearby Cabal targets.

Just shy of the minute, we see the three classes throw on their new Strand Super movies, which we’ve mostly seen before. However, this trailer seems to confirm that Titan’s new Super Blade is another Super Roaming ability – something Titan players are already quite familiar with. The Hunter Rope-Dart Super seems to have a massive swing radius in it, letting the Guardian pick apart a group of Cabal with ease, and the Warlock Super summons a bunch of missiles that swing out of thin air.

The rest of the trailer is mostly focused on story and cinematic moments, rather than gameplay. However, we do see a Titan punch through a glass window in the back half of the trailer. This animation mirrors many of the other shoulder charge abilities Titans have access to and is likely one of Strand’s melee options.

The trailer is filled with many other enticing moments that are worth mentioning. If you’re interested in a longer breakdown, we recommend checking it out Aztecross analysis video.

Bungie will release Destiny 2: Lightfall for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on February 28, 2023.
