Spotted: Another full suspension prototype from Chromag
Expanding its appetite for rear suspension, Chromag believes it will have a long-travel bike as well. An enthusiastic skier from Whistler sent in a rugged enduro bike with dual 29″ wheels and an EXT coil shock. We’ve seen one. previous prototype Mimicking a scaled-up version of Chromag’s youth bike, the Minor Threat, however, this recently spotted bike appears to have been further refined.
The new left proto uses an alloy rear triangle. Both bikes use the Horst-link suspension design, but the yellow frame is much more refined.
The most noticeable change to the new prototype frame is the highly machined alloy rear triangle. While the suspension design is slightly different from the previous enduro prototype we’ve seen, Chromag has stuck with the Horst-link design, with the chain pivot next to the dropout indicated. The new linkage looks much cleaner and simpler than before using a one-piece rocker link and less hardware. In that lower part of the rear triangle, you can also see a sculpted chainguard that’s neater than the inner tube wrapped around the red proto, suggesting that Chromag chose this design.
When we shared these photos with Chromag, they only dropped a few hints saying, “We’re not ready to say anything about this bike yet. But we’re very close to launching our first FS bike (in a couple of weeks). More than one bike in our lineup there is.”
We’ll be sure to share their new bike when it’s ready to launch and add it to our review list.
