This is the last call for Chicago residents interested in participating in the city’s new cash assistance program as the application deadline looms.

The city is offering a one-time payment of $500 through the Chicago Resilience Fund 2.0, a program aimed at “providing cash assistance to Chicagoans who may have been left out of the COVID-19 stimulus.”

Eligible residents have until December 31 to submit their applications, according to the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services.

“The purpose of the fund is to support residents who had difficulty accessing and qualifying for federal relief payments, including the COVID-19 Relief Fund in 2020,” the city’s website reads.

The current round of payments is geared towards residents with adult dependents or caregivers for adults.

Two organizations have been charged with taking applications: Association House Chicago and the Chinese Mutual Aid Foundation.

Eligible residents must submit an online application and recipients are selected through a lottery. Winners must show proof of eligibility. Only one application per household is permitted.

According to the city, more than 4,000 winners are expected to be selected.
