Veterans Support Group Joins Spartanburg Philanthropy Center Spartanburg News

SPARTANBURG – Upstate Warrior Solutions is set to open a new location at the Robert Heit Chapman III Center for Philanthropy early next year.

During a news conference on December 1, the Spartanburg County Foundation announced that the organization is first John. T. Wardlaw Partner in Residence at the Robert Heitt Chapman III Center for Philanthropy. Upstate Warrior Solutions’ 2,500-square-foot office space on the center’s second floor is scheduled to be fully operational by January 2. The organization will be located across from the Spartanburg County Foundation at 431 E. Kennedy St. for five years. ,

“Our veterans are one of our treasured community assets, and they deserve the best,” said Charlie Hall, president of Upstate Warrior Solutions. “We want to serve them in a truly welcoming, holistic environment.”

The organization provides support services for veterans and their families throughout the Upstate. The nonprofit began serving veterans in 2012, and helps people navigate Veterans Administration benefits, unemployment, mental health, transportation, housing, education, and health care.



Office Space by Upstate Warrior Solutions

Upstate Warrior Solutions’ former office location was on West Saint John Street in downtown Spartanburg. The organization also has offices in Greenville and Anderson, serving Greenville, Pickens, Anderson, and Oconee counties.

“Over the past eight years, we’ve been in an inadequate space,” Hall said. “We don’t have a lot of traffic because our brand is not on the street.”

Hall said the new office will give employees and the organization’s partners a place to work collaboratively and allow for more outreach opportunities.

“We were looking for a partner for almost two years,” said Mary Thomas, COO of the Spartanburg County Foundation and executive director of the Robert Heit Chapman III Center for Philanthropy. “There is no better fit in our community than Upstate Warrior Solutions, which can truly maximize that space for the benefit of our community.”

The Robert Heit Chapman III Center for Philanthropy opened in 2021 and is a part of the Spartanburg County Foundation. The Foundation created the center to serve as a collaborative space for nonprofits, businesses and other community members. Partner in Residence space was reserved for an organization whose goals aligned with the mission of the Spartanburg County Foundation.

The space is named in honor of John T. Wardlaw, who served as a trustee and president of the Spartanburg County Foundation.
