The basics of the game: Cardinals (4-12) vs. 49ers (12-4) at Levi’s Stadium, 1:25 p.m. (PT). television: fox. announcers: Chris Myers (game by game), Robert Smith (color commentary), Gene Hill (side reporting).
Prospect: 49ers -14. Above under: 40.
a series: 49ers lead 33-29. last meeting: 49 players win 38-10 on November 21, 2022.
They’re going to need a lot of help, but the road to the Super Bowl could still, in some way, run through Levi’s Stadium for the San Francisco 49ers.
After losing in Week 7 to fall to 3-4, the Red and Gold would run the table the rest of the way and still manage to get the NFC’s top seed and only first round win.
The 49ers would need to win their 10th straight game and lose the Eagles to the Giants in Philadelphia to jump out on top. Unfortunately for the 49ers, that seems highly unlikely, given that the Giants — locked into a No. 6 seed role in the NFC — are resting most of their starters and playing former Cal quarterback Davis Webb.
So what would third-string quarterback — and suddenly Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate — Brock Purdy do? He still hasn’t lost a game he started in the NFL and even answered some key tests last week in Las Vegas, driving the 49ers into scoring territory late in the fourth quarter.
While Purdy answered a few questions, the defense came away with an amazing high-scoring game against the Raiders. Even though they’re still the best defense in the NFL, can the 49ers defense find the solutions to what happened last week and make it right against Arizona’s fourth-string quarterback, forward David Plouffe?
And how will the 49ers, Cardinals and NFL honoree Damar Hamlin, the Bills’ safety who has progressed significantly after a cardiac arrest on Monday Night Football in Cincinnati?
Follow along as our correspondents Cam Inman, Jerry McDonald and Sheena Rubin, columnist Dieter Kortenbach, and other analysts give their thoughts on the game.
