Harnessing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet makes hunting Shiny Pokémon easier

I’ve never had the patience to hunt down shiny Pokemon, but luckily now I don’t have to.

Shiny Pokémon are super rare versions of Pokémon that appear in a different color scheme. Overall, your chances of running into a shiny Pokemon are about 1 in 4,096. But now fans have discovered one Pokemon Scarlet AND blue exploit that makes it incredibly easy to catch one in less than an hour and requires no special items.

I followed one tutorial created by YouTuber PhillyBeatzU and it worked like a charm.

Following PhillyBeatzU’s instructions, I first went to a Pokemon outbreak, an event where a bunch of the same Pokemon appeared in an area. (You can find one by opening your map and looking for Pokemon that appear on the map with a glowing red symbol behind them.)

Once you reach an explosion, you will need to fight at least 60 Pokemon. You can do this with normal battles, but Let’s go is much faster, so I would recommend just sending out your strongest Pokemon and clearing dozens of Pokemon with auto-battles. After defeating more than 60, your shiny spawn rate will increase to 1 in 1,365, according to the math of a bright hunter.

Then, find a place within the explosion for it organize a picnic, and then pack again. Whenever you pack your picnic, run around the blast area and check for a glow; if you don’t see one, repeat. Basically, you’re resetting eggs for dozens of Pokemon at once, refreshing your chances of getting one each time. If you repeat this process enough times (setting up a picnic, packing it, and then looking around) you’re likely to find a shiny Pokemon.

There are some potential bumps in the road. Bright red AND blue don’t play a special sound when you encounter rails in the open world, making them harder to spot. Additionally, many Pokemon are really small and their shiny form can look relatively similar to the original form. (This is the case with Pokemon like Buizel and Gastly.) Additionally, if the outbreak happens in a place where you don’t have room to camp, like a steep mountainside, you may be out of luck.

It’s stupid easy though. From start to finish, it took me under 30 minutes total. I did not have the bright charm and I did not use sandwich to raise my rates at all. I didn’t have to prepare. All I did was go into a Larvesta burst, knock out 60, and then set up and take down my picnic four times before I found a shiny. Maybe I won’t have that luck again, but it’s a good confirmation that the technique works. Even 10 picnic breeders can turn into roughly 100 Pokemon, so just keep going!
