Tesla hires ramps for Cybertruck production

Tesla skeptics usually have several points of contention. Among them, they argued that vehicles such as the next-generation Roadster, Tesla Semi or Cybertruck would never enter production. These arguments, or at least those in favor of Cybertruck, would probably be completely moot soon.

Tesla’s third quarter update letter indicated that development of the Cybertruck had entered the tooling phase. During the 2022 quarter earnings call, Elon Musk stated that the Giga Texas facility is being prepared for the Cybertruck. They later showed drone flights of the Giga Texas complex and leaked footage from inside the facility Cybertruck bodies are moving from the factory.

“We’re in the final lap of Cybertruck,” Musk said.

Worklists activated Tesla’s Careers website suggests that Musk’s Q3 2022 comments were accurate. As you can see from Tesla’s job listings for Austin Texas, the company currently has several positions listed specifically for the Cybertruck.

Among them, job offers a Dimensional Engineer – BIW, Cybertruck; Head of Manufacturing Operations – Cybertruck; Senior Equipment Engineer – BIW, Cybertruck; Dimensional Engineering Manager – BIW, Cybertruck; Equipment Engineering Manager – BIW, Cybertruck; and Senior Equipment Engineer Robotics – BIW, Cybertruck.

Tesla has been very conservative about Cybertruck production and the company’s target ramp for the electric truck, with previous reports indicating the vehicle entered mass production in late 2023. Citing two people who were said to be familiar with the matter, Reuters stated that Tesla is looking to begin production of the Cybertruck in mid-2023. The electric vehicle maker has announced plans to move from initial production to mass production of the Cybertruck within a few quarters.

The Cybertruck is undoubtedly Tesla’s the most radical vehicle to date. Designed with an unashamedly futuristic look and loaded to the teeth with technology, the Cybertruck has been described by Elon Musk as one of Tesla’s greatest creations to date. The vehicle should be as impressive as possible, given that the electric truck market is saturated by first movers like the Ford F-150 Lightning and the Rivian R1T.
